Cage Anyone?

I had the opportunity to tune for (and hear) George Crumb's 'Voice of the
Whale' twice last year at two local colleges. One trio used a metal (unknown
type) rod, one trio used a glass rod to rest on the strings. I felt more
comfortable with the glass rod, though I suppose it could break.
