Has anyone had any experience with these things? I agreed to tune
one for a student here and I got stupid and broke a bass string.
It was made in Germany and almost everything is written in German.

The problem is that the speaking length is only app. 17" long and
is even a double wrap. It's the lowest bass string on the instrument.

Would anyone know from experience who might be able to duplicate a
string that short? I'll do some checking but in the meantime, I
thought I'd ask the list.
