The signs went up today announcing what I'm trying to do.

  Announcement!!.

Fines will be levied for food and drink in the practice rooms.

There has been more and more evidence of spills in pianos. I have been
reluctant to take such drastic measures in the past, but recently the
incidence of open cups and bottles in and on pianos has increased dramatically.

The reason for concern is that the spill of only a half-cup of water can do
serious damage to a grand piano. Possible damage could easily require more
than $1000 in parts and three to four weeks labor.

Pianos are expensive! Please take care of them.

First offense - $15, subsequent - $50.

It is suggested that drinks be placed on the floor outside of the practice
room. This way there is less likelihood that a spill into the piano will
occur.
