Mark try the duplex in the lower register, just had the same ploblem on an
old Yamaha CF with an A and a G over ring. I would have swore it was a
faulty damper.
I used braiding tape up to mid E.
If it's your C7, I noticed the braiding tape is not too far up the scale.
