Jeff,

One question I haven't heard yet: are the hammers custom-bored or standard bore?

If they are a set of standard bore Steinway hammers, I'm wondering if there may
be an excessive blow distance because of varying string height (can be as much
as 6mm from section to section), combined with a short (standard) bore and
hammer tails that are also too short. All of these factors would contribute to
the regulation problems of your particular piano.
