Greetings Dave,
I have been able to escape hardeners on the Renner hammers by a little
filing and voicing. These hammers seem to brighten when the initial needling
goes in. If you can file about four months worth of felt, and only do the
shoulders, as per Rick's Baldassin's method, you will hear all the brilliance
you want in about 20 hours of playing time. Or is it worse than that?
