Back checks

Dave,

Some time ago, Susan Graham had a Journal article about this.
Her procedure used a jig much like the one Scott Thile suggests,
with large pliers for removal, and a drill press for installation.

Must the checks be replaced?

My criterion for that is "will they still hold regulation?" If so, re-felt
and
recover. If not, then replace.

My major reason for this is that I remain unconvinced as to the
superiority of the newer backchecks, and prefer to work with
actions which provide me as a technician, and the performers
whom I serve the greatest possible range of regulation.

Best.

Horace
