The article appeared in Monday's paper on the front page lower right hand corner. It was an in depth item. It is about an inventor who made a piano lid for the bottom of the piano. It is a mirror image of the top lid. Here are my thoughts about the lid: I am willing to bet that the real reason for Carniege not allowing it to be used there is that it just doesn't look like it ought to look. The inventor is not going to say that, neither will the Carniege management. If you read the article you will see that it has been in the Hall but not for an official concert. I'm sure that they formed their opinions then. The other thing is that the cost for this item is high and its application is to concert instruments only. Finally, the fact that artist likes it dose not necessarily mean that it is better for the concert goer. Often times the artist likes something because it sounds good to his or her ears right there on stage. They believe that if they can hear themselves very well so can the listener. It seems to me the real situation is that listener usually gets the short end of the stick. Steinway is to applauded for giving it serious attention. ,.,.,,,.,,,,,,.,.,,,.,,,,,,,.,,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,.,, ,,,.,.,.,., Michael J.
